A Levelland student is facing serious charges after bringing a gun to school.

Levelland police say the 14-year-old girl brought a gun on campus, threatening to kill several students for bullying her.  Police Chief Toney Cowan says Rriday morning, they were called out to Levelland Middle School after a teacher was informed of the threats.

Officials say several students came up to the teacher saying the girl was threatening them and had a gun in her backpack.  The officer searched her bag and found a BB gun and took the girl into custody.  Now both Levelland police and the Superintendent say they're glad they took control of the situation before something more serious could happen.

"Our middle school especially, the staff there, the principal, and the teachers, have worked hard at creating relationships and creating a safe environment for all of our students."

Initially the girl faced charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and a charge of a terroristic threat, but after a juvenile hearing yesterday, the felony assault charge was dropped.
