At the Lubbock County Courthouse on Monday, a defendant pleading guilty to a weapons charge made a serious mistake that got him locked up on felony weapons charges.
32-year-old Joseph Bailey was in Judge Rusty Ladd's courtroom pleading to a prohibited weapons charge.
According to eyewitnesses, when Bailey approached the bench to make his plea, a court bailiff stopped him and found two knives, one of them a switch-blade. Bailey is now facing additional second degree felony charges. Switchblades are a prohibited weapon in the state of Texas. Also, no knives or weapons of any sort are allowed in Texas courthouses.
