Lubbock residents will need to wait until Monday to find out what the city decides to do about rising water rates. Councilmembers will meet in a special session Monday to discuss new water rates. They will also come up with a plan to help elderly and low income families afford the rise in rates. District Three's Todd Klein says the plan on Monday is to reach a consensus on the best way of keeping rates low for fixed income families.

"We can look at the meter aspect, as well as, again, an affordability plan that would help qualify widows and people on modest means to absorb this, at least temporarily, this increase that we're gonna see over the next few years," says Klein.

Councilman Klein encourages city residents who may have feedback or ideas about how to find a way to help people pay for the new rate increase to call City Hall.
