TXDOT is still watching the weather closely just in case they need to head out to clear the roads once again. The Texas Department of Transportation's crews were ready and waiting to clear roads around 4:30 Thursday afternoon. And by 7:30 Friday morning, crews were out de-icing streets and salting bridges and overpasses. TXDOT says no matter what time of year it is, they always have a full stock of materials they need to keep roads safe.

"The equipment that we have, it's always on hand it's just a matter of getting it put on our dump trucks. We always have the de-icing material, that is something we keep in stock at our maintenance sections, so it's just a matter of getting prepared," says TXDOT's Dianah Ascencio.

TXDOT is asking everyone to still use caution on the roads Friday night, and keep in mind that bridges and overpasses are the first to freeze. DPS is also warning everyone to pay more attention to your fellow drivers.
