Lubbock alcohol sales go up for a vote in just about a month, and on Wednesday, Tech students were registering to cast their ballots. Tech's Student Government Association says they make sure to get students registered to vote before any big election. Members were on campus today, encouraging students to sign up to vote in Lubbock. The student organization Make Lubbock Wet was also on campus Wednesday afternoon. They sent students to register and encouraged them to make their voices heard in the big vote.
Says Make Lubbock Wet founder Robert Stephenson, "All the citizens of Lubbock, if they want to drink responsibly, should have the right or the opportunity to go down to United Supermarket and buy a bottle of wine." Student Government Association member Jenna Jones says of students, "They're here for 4 years, so there definitely are a lot of issues that pertain to them, and it's important for them to make a decision in those."
