One of Lubbock County's most dangerous intersections just got a little safer. TXDOT crews put up new stop signs at FM 2641 and CR 1700 Friday morning, making it a four-way stop. Just four weeks ago, six people died in a fatal car wreck at the intersection. And just a few weeks later, more than 600 people signed a petition to make the intersection a four-way stop. Petition organizer Cheri Bradford is grateful for the community's support, and hopes she'll never see a fatal wreck from her front yard again.
"To me it means a safer place to raise my family, and hopefully we won't have to witness anything like that in the future," says Bradford.
A candlelight memorial service is being held Friday night for those affected by the deadly crash. It starts at 7 p.m. at CR 1700 and FM 2641.
