Census workers will soon be knocking on your door.

While the census doesn't officially begin until 2010, government workers are already collecting data.

Some 140,000 workers are patrolling the country over the next few months, confirming every housing address in the country.

The numbers generated by the cenus will determine how much of the $300 billion in federal funds Lubbock County will receive.

Census data will be used by local businesses for location and marketing purposes and even Texas Tech for academic research.
