Folks just five miles west of Abernathy are now cleaning up their property after a tornado touched down. A little after 9 Thursday night, folks inside this home watched the wind blow open their front door. They ran for cover and heard a loud roar outside the house and then an eerie calm seconds later. When they looked outside, they saw tree limbs scattered all over, and their 50 year-old radio tower on the ground. The owner of the house is just thankful the tower didn't fall on the home and everyone inside is okay.

"Straight line winds would have laid this stuff down in a straight line pattern and it was pretty much in a circular pattern. Lay that tower down between the well house and the air conditioner and then these other lines where the weeds blown across. And obviously they said it really roared so that's a similar sign of a tornado," says owner Darryl Brightbill.

Crews spent the day picking up tree limbs around the home and hauling the radio tower off the property.
