Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell continued his break neck pace as he threw for 409 yards and 6 touchdowns. Harrell also continued to find his favorite target as freshman Michael Crabtree caught 11 passes for 239 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Crabtree helped to break the game open with a 74 yard touchdown reception from Graham Harrell midway through the second quarter.

Texas Tech had 11 different receivers catch passes and ended the game with 593 total yards.

Defensively the Red Raiders improved, holding Rice to only 303 yards and sacking the Rice quarterbacks 6 times for a loss of 52 yards along with a pair of fumble recoveries and an interception.

The Red Raiders were forced to play sound football after Rice pulled within 4 points during the second quarter after a 47 yard touchdown pass to Jared Dillard. The Red Raiders then went on to score 35 unanswered points and put the game well out of reach for the Rice Owls.

Freshman Aaron Crawford did make his debut late in the 4th quarter as he and Taylor Potts helped chip away at the clock and seal the Texas Tech win.
