LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech wide receiver Michael Crabtree (Dallas, Texas) was selected the Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week after grabbing 11 receptions for a Tech and league freshman record 244 yards and three touchdowns at Rice. The Red Raiders won the game, 59-24, to improve to 3-0 on the season.

In his redshirt freshman season, Crabtree has been a dominant force in the Red Raiders’ offensive attack. He leads the nation with 12.7 receptions per game and is second in receiving yards, checking in at 179.3 per game. Crabtree’s season totals of 38 catches, 538 yards and eight touchdowns have him on pace to shatter single-season marks in each category.

Crabtree is the first player in school history to begin a career with three multi-TD games, including three scoring tallies against SMU in his debut. Additionally, he is third in the conference and 14th nationally with 179.3 all-purpose yards per game and third nationally in scoring with 16.0 point per contest.

Texas Tech opens Big 12 Conference play Saturday at Oklahoma State in a 2:30 p.m. kickoff. The game will be televised nationally on FSN.
