LUBBOCK, Texas –
Texas Tech wide receiver Michael Crabtree (Dallas, Texas) was
selected the Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week after grabbing 11
receptions for a Tech and league freshman record 244 yards and three touchdowns
at Rice. The Red Raiders won the game, 59-24, to improve to 3-0 on the
season.
In his redshirt freshman season,
Crabtree has been a dominant force in the Red Raiders’ offensive attack. He
leads the nation with 12.7 receptions per game and is second in receiving yards,
checking in at 179.3 per game. Crabtree’s season totals of 38 catches, 538 yards
and eight touchdowns have him on pace to shatter single-season marks in each
category.
Crabtree is the first player in
school history to begin a career with three multi-TD games, including three
scoring tallies against SMU in his debut. Additionally, he is third in the
conference and 14th nationally with 179.3 all-purpose yards per game
and third nationally in scoring with 16.0 point per
contest.
