The Texas Senate gives the green light to a bill involving asbestos lawsuits.
The bill would only apply to lawsuits involving mesothelioma, a rare form of cancer usually caused by the inhalation of asbestos fibers.
The bill would make it easier for those diagnosed with mesothelioma to recover personal injury damages by lowering the 'standard of proof' required to show that asbestos exposure was the cause of the cancer.
"What the trial lawyers did is we wanted to make it fairer for the victims of this horrible disease," Personal Injury Lawyer, Charles Dunn says.
The bill, moved by Senator Duncan, now goes to the Texas House for consideration.
