The swine flu outbreak is also causing a stir among many local students as event cancellations continue to rise. Many state athletic and academic competitions have been canceled or postponed due to rising swine flu cases.

We spoke to several Frenship students today, whose plans have been put 'on hold.' From BPA to FFA to athletics, students are individually affected, as all school travel in and out of The Hub City has been postponed.

Senior Alisha Kluzek, who made BPA nationals, comments, "I mean, this is my 3rd year in BPA and this is the first year I've ever made it to Nationals, so it's kind of heartbraking to know that after all this hard work, you finally make it, and oh wait, now you don't get to go." Baseball player and track runner Lance Ratliff says, "We were ready to go to regionals this weekend and they say it's pushed back or cancelled and you have to go two weeks from now. It's like that's a lot of time that we're going to have to spend practicing more."
