The president's stimulus package is creating jobs and boosting the economy on the South Plains. TXDOTwill award contracts for around 200 construction projects across Texas, which is expected to support more than 2600 jobs.

Here on the South Plains, two large construction projects and several smaller FM road projects will receive more than $45-million dollars in government funding. TXDOT officials are excited to receive the government's help.

TXDOT's Dianah Ascencio says, "It's a boost to Lubbock, it's a boost to the economy. This is an economic stimulus package that congress passed, so the focus of this package was acually to create jobs and sustain the workforce."
