Closing arguments began Thursday morning in the trial of Gloria Ramirez.

For 30 minutes, Prosecutor Jennifer Bassett argued Ramirez knowingly and intentionally neglected her seven children.

Bassett called Ramirez and her husband, Anthony Moya, selfish individuals that 'like creating babies but see them only as a paycheck.'

She called Ramirez's house on Avenue L a 'house of horrors,' so terrible, it brought a veteran Lubbock police officer to tears.

Later, Defense Attorney Ted Hogan blamed the horrid conditions inside home on Anthony Moya, telling jurors 'Anthony kept Ramirez pregnant and sat on his tail.'

Jurors deliberated for only 32 minutes before handing down a verdict.

In a unanimous decision, they found Ramirez guilty on all six counts of child endangerment and one count of injury to a child.

Now begins the punishment phase of the trial.

The prosecution began by calling two witnesses to the stand.

Both CPS workers testified Ramirez hasn't been compliant with CPS requests in the past.

One CPS worker even expressed concerns about Ramirez's current visits with her children, telling jurors Ramirez has a difficult time tending to her children.
