Wednesday morning's fatal crash is just one of a few recent wrecks involving drivers who were not wearing seatbelts, and with Memorial Day Weekend coming up, the Texas DPS is on the look-out for seat belt violators. Cops will be out in full force starting next week and leading up to Memorial Day weekend. They'll all watch for drivers - and passengers - not wearing seat belts, and issue appropriate citations.

"I hope that as a result of crashes that we've had recently like this one this morning, that people would be aware that they need to wear their seatbelts all the time. Not just for just this week because they know we're gonna enforce it, we're gonna be out there looking for it," says Corporal John Gonzalez with DPS.

The fine for not wearing your seatbelt can be anywhere from 25 to 500 dollars.
