Police are looking for the person responsible for an early morning shooting in East Lubbock that left a woman dead and a man critically injured.

Police say it was just after 4:00 a.m. Thursday morning when residents at a home on East Cornell called 9-1-1 after a man with several gunshot wounds knocked on their door.

They say the shooting actually happened on the 2400 block of East 8th Street.

Police tell us two people, 34-year-old Trent Johnson and 36-year-old Angela Holt, were in a car when they were shot.

From there, the victims tried to flee the scene, backing into a utility pole, then eventually making it to the 1700 block of East Cornell, where the male victim attempted to get help.

Police believe he didn't receive an answer at the first door he tried, so he went to a neighboring home, where a resident there called police.

When officers responded to the scene, they prounounced Angela Holt dead.

"What went on when the shooting occurred, we simply don't know right now.  That's obviously the focus of the investigation, whether it was some interaction with other people, or one other person, we're just not clear," Capt. Greg Stevens with Lubbock Police says.

Police haven't named any suspects, but are reveiwing evidence found at both crime scenes.
