Another deadly wreck along FM 2641 leaves one child dead and a Lubbock Sheriff's Deputy injured.

DPS officials say they received the call just after 10:30 Tuesday morning.

They say veteran Deputy Ken Mull was driving west on FM 2641, when a maroon suburban driving south on CR 1500, apparently ran a stop sign, colliding with the Deputy.

Officials tell us there were seven people in that suburban, including one child who later died at Covenant.

"I hope that people that live out here in this area, in this community, stop at stop signs because that's why the stop signs are there.  They're designed for a purpose and that's to protect the traffic and other motorists that are going," Cpl. John Gonzalez with DPS says.

Officials say Deputy Mull was alert and talking after the crash.

He is at UMC with non-life threatening injuries.
