Families in a close-knit west Lubbock neighborhood are now worried for their own safety, after Tuesday night's murder in the 6200 block of 22nd Street. Neighbors we talked to were shocked to hear about the shooting. They say their street's normally quiet, and the homes are full of hard-working families - including the one at 6211, who have always been respectful, and never had problems in the past.
"Crime is everywhere. It's just under disguise in so many different ways, but it just surfaced its ugly face and something needs to be done. There's too many children in this neighborhood, and it's sad, very sad how everything came about," says neighbor Evelyn Brown.
Brown says her kids are no longer allowed to play outside, she says they'll have to stay in the house or by her side until police can find the person who shot Cervantes.
