Students and teachers at Whiteside Elementary paid tribute to Cpl. D. Harvey Tuesday morning.

Harvey is the deputy killed in the line of duty last month.

The school dedicated a cedar elm tree in honor of the fallen deputy.

Both of Cpl. Harvey's sons attend Whiteside.

During the ceremony, the school's principal described the tree as a mirror image of the deputy- tall and skinny.

Cpl. Harvey's wife tells us the tree serves as a reminder of who her husband was.

"I'm honored. I think the pride is still carrying me through right now. But more than anything, I'm honored that they would think to do that for him," wife of the late Cpl. Harvey, Stacy Harvey says.

Whiteside Elementary has now planted six trees in honor of various students, parents and friends of the school.
