Three new cases of H1N1, or Swine Flu have been confirmed on the South Plains.

These cases involve a 35-to 50-year old woman from Bailey County. a school-age boy from Dawson County, and a school-age boy from Arizona who has been visiting relatives in Lubbock.

The families have been notified and the three are being treated by doctors. Lubbock is our region's headquarters for H1N1 testing, and Nancy Haney with the Health Department says for the Dawson and Bailey County cases the patients were tested here in Lubbock -- but the treatment and follow-up will be done in each county.

Nancy Haney: "We haven't been overrun with flu, at this point, in the region. So they have the resources that they need, to take care of the cases in the region just like we do here in the city."

This makes the fifth case of swine flu on the South Plains. Two people in Lubbock County were found to have the illness just a week ago.
