A Lubbock jury decided on the prison sentence of a man involved in the home invasion and beating of an elderly man.

The jury broke for deliberation just before 4:00 Wednesday afternoon and it took them about two hours to decide 20-year-old Jaffice Harris should spend 25 years behind bars.

Tuesday, Harris plead guilty to burglary with the intent to commit aggravated assault.

Harris confessed to breaking into a home on the 3800 block of 48th Street and beating 74-year-old Kenneth Forson with his own cane.

Forson suffered a concussion and a broken rib from the attack.

"We're pleased with the verdict. The District Attorney had asked for life and we felt like a life verdict might be a bit harsh," Defense Attorney Charles Chambers says.

No word on whether Harris plans to appeal the sentence.
