Families of Flight 3407 Speak to Congress

By: Kristen Kennedy
Updated: June 18, 2009
The father of a victim of a plane crash is fighting for changes in FAA regulations. Flight 3407 was the Continental plane that crashed in Buffalo back in February. Investigators believe pilot training and crew fatigue were factors in that crash. Lubbockite Mike Loftus - a member of Families of Flight 3407 and a retired Continental pilot - testified before Congress. He asked that the FAA regulate training and safety programs, so this type of tragedy never happens again.

"It's unfortunate, but I think that's how things get done, I think that if there's any kind of benefit that can come out of this tragic accident it would be that somebody else doesn't have to be sitting here in another 10 or 15 years wondering how come these things haven't been addressed yet," says Loftus.

Fifty people lost their lives in that plane crash.
