Most everyone is familiar with DWI- driving while intoxicated, but are you familiar with DWT?
Well it stands for 'driving while texting. And it can be dangerous.
Spokesman Russ Rader of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety says that drivers who use cell phones are four times more likely to be injured in a crash.
Texting specifically, might even be worse.
"Texting is certainly a risk for drivers. It just makes sense that you don't want to be fumbling with a device and taking your eyes off the road because driving takes your full attention" Rader said.
14 states and the District of Columbia have laws banning texting while driving in all instances. Texas is not one of them.
