A man is rushed to University Medical Center this afternoon after he's hit by a truck in the middle of a Southeast Lubbock field.

It happened at 82nd and MLK just after 4 p.m. Police tell us 53-year-old Billy Green decided to drive his pickup into the field, to do some donuts and figure eights.

He ended up running over a worker who was picking squash in the field, 23-year-old John Ybarra. Ybarra suffered serious injuries.

Witnesses say Mr. Green may have been driving drunk.

Lorenzo Hernandez, Witness: "I think he was a little bit intoxicated. He's an elderly man, it could've been any problem, he could've been with his medicine or something, diabetic. We don't know exactly the story, what's going on."

Captain Greg Stevens, Lubbock Police Department: "There's a number of things that we have probable cause to believe right now. All the way down to criminally trespassing on agricultural fields."

Green remains in police custody tonight, while police investigate what happened.
