A former US Attorney General will soon be teaching class at Tech.

Today Chancellor Kent Hance announced that Alberto Gonzales has been hired as a political science professor and diversity recruiter for the university.

Gonzales was appointed attorney general of the United States by President Bush back in 2005. He resigned from the position two years later after allegations of perjury.

Gonzales is from San Antonio and has known Chancellor Hance for many years. Hance says Gonzales' role will be to increase minority enrollment and bring more spotlight to Tech, specifically working with hispanics. His position as visiting professor will keep him here in Lubbock for at least a year.
