Josh Bard Re-signs with San Diego

San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - The San Diego Padres avoided arbitration with former Red Raider catcher Josh Bard on Monday, agreeing to a one-year contract with the catcher worth $1.05 million. The 28-year-old Bard hit .338 with nine home runs and knocked in 40 runs in 93 games for the Padres after being acquired in May from the Boston Red Sox. Overall, Bard hit .333 last season between Boston and San Diego. Bard is a career .270 hitter and has 22 homers and 101 RBI in 744 career at- bats.
