It was a difficult and confusing day in Levelland at the Hockley County Sheriff's Department. Hockley County Sheriff David Kinney said he came to work today to find that two of his top officials had been arrested.
Gordon Bohannon, the Chief Deputy, and Jose Jesus "Jessi" Quintanilla, the narcotics officer, were arrested in early morning raids by federal, state, and local agencies. Kinney said he was unaware of any wrong doing at the Sheriff's Department .
"According to the agents when they talked to me, it was just these two that they were looking at and wanted to talk with ,and that was it," Kinney said.
The raid was part of an investigation that was begun by the Levelland Police Department. It was then handed off to the FBI, and the investigation then spanned from Hockley County, to Lubbock County, and even all the way down to Midland.
Sheriff Kinney said he's not sure about the involvement of his top two officials, but he is sure that the rest of the Hockley County Sheriff's Department is clean. He later added that if the two men are guilty, they're getting what they deserve.
"If my guys are guilty of this, then they need to be under that jailhouse. Because they know better," Kinney said.
