Hockley County Sheriff David Kinney is among several law enforcement officials trying to piece together answers in a major drug bust in Levelland early Friday morning. 28 arrests in all, two of which, work for the Hockley County Sheriffs Office.
Just before 6 Friday morning, federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies raided the home of 54-year-old Bobby Froman. Froman is accused of running a major methamphetamine trafficking organization. Officials believe it's been going on since 2003.
Apparently Froman has been transporting cash out of California to purchase mass amounts of meth, it then was brought to Levelland for distribution.
Officials believe it was sold for cash, weapons, and sexual favors among other things.
53-year-old Gordon Bohannon and 39-year-old Jesse Quintanilla are among those involved with the ring, Bohannon served as Hockley County Chief Deputy, and Quintanilla is a narcotics officer.
Both are believed to have used their positions to obtain private information to keep this scheme running.
Sheriff Kinney says he had no idea any of this was going on, he says about a month ago he was approached by the FBI, questioning him about Bohannon and Quintanilla. Any further investigations, Kinney says his department will cooperate fully.
