While retailers can begin seeking permits to sell alcohol within the city limits in less than 30 days, one Lubbock County store is already taking advantage of expanded package sales.

Wolfforth's Rick's Place will begin selling liquor in the store Wednesday.

The retailer applied for its permit to sell liquor back in May, when voters approved expanded alcohol sales.

Rick's Places' owner tells us it was necessary for his beer and wine store to sell liquor to make up for the loss in sales he'll see when Lubbock officially goes wet.

"The loss in beer slaes, because it's going to be spread all over the city of Lubbock, picking the liquor up will offset that, I think it will make us a full package store," Rick's Place owner, Rick Claybrook says.

The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission tells us Rick's Place is the first retailer in Wolfforth to apply for expanded sales.
