Supreme Court confirmation hearings for Obama nominee Sonia Sotomayor continue today as members of the Senate question her. When grilled yesterday regarding her life and work, Sotomayor kept to her philosophy of adherence to the constitution. Today, when asked about her views regarding gun control and abortion, the Judge Sotomayor repeatedly said she 'needed the specific circumstances of the case in order to respond. Tech Law School Vice Dean Richard Rosen says its not uncommon for partisan issues to take precedence, and even given her "Wise Latina" remark, the questioning will neither make nor break her eventual confirmation. "I think that's an unfortunate statement that she made, will it affect her ability to get confirmed, I don't think so, unless she makes a major slip up in the next couple of days, what Senator Grahm called a meltdown…so I think she's going to be easily confirmed." Now if confirmed by the Senate, Sotomayor will be the third female and the first Hispanic justice ever.
