The City of Lubbock will see hundreds of women diagnosed with breast cancer just this year alone. That's one reason why the Susan G. Komen Foundation is opening a new location. The new spot for Lubbock's Komen Foundation is now open at 74th and University. There was food, fun and music during the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Troy Jones, of Schwan's, sold ice cream and food to benefit the foundation. He says he's been touched personally by breast cancer and wants to help, "my sister was diagnosed with cancer Easter weekend of 2006 and she passed away in mid July so it was very quick....so it's really hit home to me and i just want to get the word out to the public that Schwan's wants to do what we can in our community to help the people that we serve." Lubbock's 'Komen for the Cure' was established in 1995 to spread the message of early detection and to support breast cancer screening and diagnostic programs in West Texas.
