Lightning struck a southwest Lubbock apartment building early this morning, causing a fire.

The bolt hit the Park Apartments complex around 3:45 AM.  Firefighter were quickly on the scene, and two crews had the fire under control within an hour.

The quickness with which the fire department put the fire out did not stop the fire from damaging four apartments.  Smoke damage effected several others in the building.

Jea Pil Cho lives at Park Apartments.  He says he was woken up in the middle of the night by something that sounded like a bomb going off.

"Man I was scared, you know? I was scared, you know? I don't know...it was...it's difficult to put into words," Cho said, obviously flustered.

Four families have been moved to other apartments, and cleanup crews are on the scene clearing away the damage.
