Cash For Clunkers Ends

The multi-billion dollar government program 'Cash For Clunkers' ends Monday and local car dealerships are calling the short-lived program a success.
Gene Messer dealerships stopped accepting clunker trade-ins on Saturday night.
Combined, the six Gene Messer stores did approximately 260 clunker deals.
The program allowed consumers to trade-in their gas guzzlers for a voucher worth up to $4500 toward the purchase of a new car.
"It drove business, it got interest up, it got people on the lot, that part of it was great. Now if we can collect our money, then it will be all good," Pete Ruiz with Gene Messer says.
The government hasn't given dealers a timeline when they'll receive that rebate money.
Ruiz says they've fronted over a million dollars in rebates to consumers.
