TXDOT Cleaning Up Contaminated Water

Folks in one Lubbock neighborhood are now fearing for their health after the City of Lubbock sent letters to their homes about their water supply.
Those letters notify people living near TXDOT's Municipal Drive facility that their well water is near a spot applying for a Municipal Setting Designation. What that classification means is that this TXDOT facility contaminated water supplies on the property. TXDOT says that water is stagnant, and isn't spreading towards any homes or well water nearby.
"It's not growing and there's really not a threat to any of the adjacent property owners. We just need to notify everybody from our radius what's going on," says Dianah Ascencio with TXDOT.
The city will hold a public meeting to explain the MSD application and answer any questions you might have about the process. That meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 2nd.
