Seatbelts, car seats and cell phones...those are just some of the tougher traffic laws that go into effect Tuesday.

Beginning September 1st, everyone in a vehicle will be required to wear a seat belt, no matter how old they are.

Another law mandates any child younger than eight years old or shorter than 4'9" be in a booster seat.

Also, drivers can now be ticketed for cell phone use in a school zone, unless they use a hands-free device.

Cpl. John Gonzalez with the Texas Department of Public Safety says enforcement of the laws will come gradually.
