Lots of folks in Lubbock will be keeping warm this winter thanks to stimulus money from the federal government.

The federal government recently approved $2.3 for weatherization across Lubbock County.  The money should arrive by October.

The stimuluous program allows city and county officials to replace windows, doors and insulation in low income houses at no cost to the home owner, not only helping to keep families warm, but helping with energy costs.

One city official says this is a great time to take a look at the program.

"It's the time to start looking at it, definitely with the cold weather coming. we have money, generally, year round to do this activity, and it tends to get busy right before it gets really hot and right before it gets really cold," Howerton said.

To see if you qualify or to apply, call the City of Lubbock's Community Development Department.  That number is 775-2300.
