September 11th in Lubbock is marked by the familiar 'flag field' at Kastman Park.

For the seventh year now, American State Bank has honored the first responders and victims of 9/11 by lining the park with flags.

This year, Corporal D. Robert Harvey was honored during the ceremony.

Harvey is the Lubbock County Sheriff's Deputy killed in the line of duty back in April.

Harvey's wife, Stacy, tells us Friday's ceremony was a clear reminder of the spirit of service first responders like her late husband, provide to the public.

"To me that especially because they're still remembering all the people that were killed and fallen in the line of duty eight years ago. So you know for me, that helps me think okay, my husband won't be forgotten," Stacy Harvey says.

The flags will remain up at Kastman Park until Thursday, September 17th.
