It appears former Texas Tech regent Mark Griffin is not the first regent asked to resign for supporting Kay Bailey Hutchison. Remember the texas governor appoints these positions.
There's word former Lubbock Mayor Windy Sitton, a Tech Regent from 2004 through 2008 was told by someone working directly for Governor Perry last fall to "cease and desist" her public support of Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison or resign from the Board of Regents.
Sitton chose to stay on for the remaining two months of her term.
She says Governor Perry's attempts to micromanage Texas's public institutions is not the way things should be handled.
"You choose people whom you have confidence in, that you think will do a really good job, and doing their best for those public institutions, and then let them do their job. I don't think politics should interfere with that governance," Sitton said.
