Kinky Talks Politics

By: Stephanie Berzinski
Updated: September 12, 2009
Newly declared Democrat Kinky Friedman made a stop in the Hub City this weekend.

The former Independent is in town to promote his run for Texas Governor.  While signing autographs and tailgating at Heroes and Legacies on University Avenue, Friedman made his push on politics.

He said people are fed up with his Republican opponents, Governor Rick Perry and Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson and it's his turn to take office.

"They've been around forever and they really have no new ideas and it's time for Rick Perry to take the lamp shade off his head and go home.  I mean the party is over Rick, it's over."

Friedman also said he made the switch from Independent to Democrat because it's "the right place for a person like him, who's not politically connected and not rich."
