Blitz Building in the Lubbock Habitat for Humanity Community

By: Stephanie Berzinski
Updated: September 12, 2009
Most people use the weekends as a time to kick back and relax, but the Habitat for Humanity volunteers spend their weekends hammering, sawing and drilling.

To date, Lubbock Habitat has built and refurbished more than 100 homes that house hundreds of adults and children.

They were back at it today for their "Building on Faith" Blitz Build.

Volunteers and local churches partnered with the Lubbock Firefighters Association to work on four homes for five families.

Volunteer Nick Parker explained why all the hard work is worth the extra time.

"You can replace your money, your possessions, whatever, but when your giving your time, your giving something that's irreplaceable."

The Lubbock Habitat for Humanity is still looking for volunteers.  The 9th annual Blitz Build will last until September 26th, but volunteers are invited to continue working on unfinished homes through November.
