Lubbock County Commissioners have chosen a new interim sheriff. After only about a half hour of deliberation today.
Chief Deputy Kelly Rowe will head the Sheriff's Office until next November, when an election will be held.
Since David Guiterrez's resignation, Rowe has been the acting Sheriff and as of today is the interim sheriff.
Rowe says he's honored to be named sheriff, and he's ready to get to work on opening the new jail.
"I was confident in my knowledge and my experience within this office. I knew I knew the people. I knew I particularly knew that jail project out there. I could rely on that experience to carry me through this process," Rowe said.
