The Goin' Band from Raiderland is going to Austin. For Amanda Johnson it's a real honor.

"We're really honored to be playing on a field with such a good band down there," says Johnson.

Drum majors Amanda Johnson and Chris Riley are just two of 450 making the long drive to play for their team.

"The expectation is a little higher when we go to these type games because they are a great program.  But we know what they do is different, we have our own style here and we take pride in that," says Riley.

Band Director, Christopher Anderson is also ready to go.

"We've been working on the show we're doing for halftime for a couple weeks now.  The band is really energized.  We can't wait to get down there, we're leaving Friday morning to go," says, Anderson.

Anderson says the group traditionally goes to just one away game a year but fans just couldn't leave such a big part of the Jones at home in the Hub.

"This year we're fortunate to be able to take three full band trips.  That's because of a lot of generosity from President Bailey and the Texas Tech community who really want to see the marching band at those football games," says Anderson.

He hopes the weeks they've spent practicing their halftime show will pay off - and make Tech fans feel like their cheering from home.

"I think it's really good for the players to be able to hear that support," says Anderson, "It's gonna be a great game, I know it is.  We're counting down the days.  Excited about it.  We're there to support the football team."
