New Lubbock unemployment numbers are out and and they have painted a bright picture. According to the Texas Work Force Commission, the jobless rate fell to under 6% in Lubbock for the first time since May.  In August, unemployment stood at 5.7%; down from 6.1% in July.  Officials said they expect it will only get better.

"About 160 new jobs that we're creating with various companies so it won't take long till I think probably this time next year we'll probably be back at full employment in Lubbock, Texas," said Gary Lawrence, CEO of Lubbock Economic Development Alliance.

Lawrence also said he expects new alcohol distribution and sales will create delivery and trucking jobs.
