Mickey Patterson Waives Extradition

New information tonight concerning Wednesday's arrest in Oregon, of a man accused of killing two women in Lubbock.
Officials arrested 59-year-old Mickey Patterson around noon Wednesday in Bend, Oregon.
Tonight -- they tell us Patterson waived extradition, and he should be back in Lubbock within 30 days.
Now a friend there in Oregon is speaking out, saying Lubbock police have the wrong guy.
"It's not him, anyone who knows Mickey, knows who he is, and such a loving and helpful guy and unfortunately the police are just struggling to try to do what they can and get someone in and charged with this." Charged with murder. It's something this friend and roommate of Patterson's in Oregon -- who wishes to remain anonymous -- says is not warranted. But a three year hunt for the suspect behind the 2006 disappearance and murders of Kay Harrelson and Peggy Merimon led police to a residence in Bend, Oregon Wednesday and arrested 59-year-old Mickey Patterson. Officials tell us Patterson has been living there for quite some time. KAMC actually spoke with Patterson off-camera right after the two women went missing in 2006. He told us then, that he had been cooperating with police, that both Harrelson and Merimon had been at his home within weeks of their disappearances. But maintained that he did not do it. Regardless, police documents showed different evidence, he's been a person of interest in this case since the beginning. On Thursday -- Patterson waived his extradition and should be back in Lubbock within days. His friend says Lubbock Police are making a mistake. "It's an outrage it's a shame, I wish they would find who did this, but they have the wrong guy, they have the wrong guy."
