The Red Raiders started off the new year right, thanks to Martin Zeno.
Zeno hit a tie-breaking free-throw and stole the ball in the final seconds of the game to secure Tech`s win over UTEP, 61-60, on Sunday.
Zeno, who scored 15 points in the game, was fouled with 1:04 left. With the score tied at 60, he converted on one of two free throws to give Tech the lead.
Zeno was the high scorer for the Red Raiders (8-6). Jarrius Jackson scored 14 points, while Dior Lowhorn and Terry Martin added 13 each.
Tech missed its first seven shots before taking the lead just before halftime. Tech had a 33-23 lead at halftime.
At one point, Tech had a 12-point lead, only to see that erased. UTEP tied the game on a Brent Murphy 3-pointer with 1:30 left.
Up next for the Red Raiders is a trip to College Station to face the Aggies. Tip-off for that game is set for 5 p.m. Saturday.
