A serial arsonist is behind bars Friday, after he pleaded guilty to setting fire to a Tahoka field back in February.
Jerry Wayne Adams was arrested in February, after investigators with the Fire Marshal's Office watched Adams light a field on fire.
In a Lynn County courtroom Friday, Adams pleaded guilty to that arson and was sentenced to ten years in prison.
Back in 1997, Adams confessed to starting more than 200 fires in the Lubbock area.
Officals with the Fire Marshal's Office tell us they've had Adams under surveillance for twelve years now.
"We certainly devoted a lot of resources over the years to that and we feel that it's a good thing for the community and the surrounding region, so again, we're pleased about that," Bob Bailey with the Lubbock Fire Marshal's Offfice says.
Bailey also says that Adams is certainly one of the most prolific arsonists in Lubbock's history.
