A new face, and a fresh start for Tech's starting quarterback tomorrow.

Coach Mike Leach announcing this week that redshirt freshman Seth Doege will start against Kansas. He may sound familiar -- the name Doege hails from right here in West Texas.

Up until sophomore year... Doege played 2A football in his hometown of Crane. He transferred to Frenship his junior year when his dad accepted a coaching job there. And it didn't long to make the varsity roster -- he stayed there his junior and senior year.

Interestingly, though, Doege never played due to ACL injuries on both knees. But, after some surgery, some rehabilitation, he headed back to the football field. Tech actually had their eye on Doege since his sophomore year at Crane. That's how they knew he'd be a good fit at Tech, even after sitting two seasons out.

His former coaches proud to see him not only make it at Tech, but start at the position he's always dreamed of playing.

Coach Brad Davis, Frenship HS Football: "Really I think his knees are in better shape now than they've ever been. We have several kids that have done that, but to see Seth do it, after all he went through. After all the adversity he had to go through, he had to face, it just, it's special. It's special for us, but it's really special for him and his family."

` Kickoff against Kansas is at 2:30.
