Updated: January 7, 2009
Marsha Sharp underwent an angiogram Thursday at Lubbock Heart Hospital. The Lady Raider head coach is expected to make a complete and rapid recovery. Last Wednesday, Coach Sharp became suddenly ill while traveling to Norman, Oklahoma for the Tech-Oklahoma game. The severity of her illness prompted further medical evaluation. Over the past week, Coach Sharp has undergone extensive testing, including a stress test, which was abnormal. This was followed by a CT angiogram, which again was abnormal and "suggested" blockage in a single cornary artery. The angiogram, which revealed a muscle bridge, or a band overlying the left coronary artery. This is felt to be responsible for the abnormal test findings. So, there is no evidence of blockage or heart damage. She is currently in good condition and is expected to make a rapid recovery.
