DNA Evidence Crucial In Sexual Assault Cases

Counselors recommend all sexual assault victims complete an evidence collection kit so they can find and secure DNA evidence, and bring cases like the ones involving Robert Bruce to a close. Sexual assault evidence kits collect hair, blood, bodily fluids, anything they can find on the victim's clothes and skin that could lead them to the felon.
"Pretty much everything depends on DNA nowadays. If you have DNA evidence that can link the perpetrator to the crime then it's easier for law enforcement to prove their case," says Leslie Timmons with Lubbock Rape Crisis Center.
Lubbock police have sent evidence from three sexual assaults to labs to see if Bruce is the perpetrator in each of those cases.
