Lubbock Getting 3 New Fire Stations

The bond proposal to spend $7.5 million on new fire stations passed by a wide margin last week, now Lubbock will see three more fire stations in the near future.
The first station, Station 16, will be built near 114th and Quaker.
It's set to be open for operation in the next year and a half.
Station 18 will then be built at 67th and Oakridge, followed by Station 19 at 104th and Milwaukee.
Officials with the Lubbock Fire Department say not only will these stations help lower home owners insurance rates, but also keep response times down.
"The way the city is growing to the south and southwest, we already have incorporated areas that are not covered by fire stations, according to the insurance service organization, that's who rates our product that we provide the citizens and that's what allows the citizens to maintain good insurance coverage," Chris Angerer with the Lubbock Fire Department says.
All three stations are scheduled to be completed in the next four years.
